My Craftsman 22 inch 6.5 hp self propelled lawn mower has been meticulously maintained (I'm a JA expert in VW). This spring when I fired it up it started leaking a lot of oil and smoking around the carb and air filter. It seems like a crankcase vent is plugged and it is coming out at a pretty good rate. Lots of oil on the deck and after it warms up, lots of smoke. I understand automotive engines, but not these critters. Any help out there?

Nope.

Just stored flat as always. I even removed the air fiter to see if it would cure the problem. The only thing I can think of is that there is some sort of crankcase vent that is completly plugged and as the engine runs, the oil is being forced out. Do you know of a crankcase vent for this B&S engine?
